HOW MEMBERSHIP WORKS
|
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A MEMBERAs a member of FirstGen Society, you belong to a unique network and community of people who share your pride of being a first generation college student or alumnus. Members become a part of a lifelong fellowship and friendship that is committed to supporting and empowering each other throughout their collegiate journeys and career paths. FirstGen Society membership provides access to benefits including exclusive discounts, events, networking, and more.
JOINING IS SIMPLEMembership is open to high school and college students who are on their way to becoming or who currently are the first in their families to attend college. First generation college student alumni who recently graduated or who are in their professional and career stages are also welcome to join. Though FirstGen Society focuses on first generation college students and alumni, membership is also open to anyone who expresses an interest and would like to join and support the mission of FirstGen Society. Active membership is immediate upon joining as there is no initiation process to join. Members will have the opportunity, if they choose, to participate in a member moving on ceremony as part of being a member of FirstGen Society. |
Members will also have opportunities to participate in a number of other ways through their club or chapter. Membership is available to join online through our website and through our established chapters and clubs.
CHAPTERS AND CLUBSWe offer student-organized chapters on college campuses and student clubs in high schools nationwide. FirstGen Society student-organized groups formed in high schools are referred to as "Student Clubs" and student-organized groups formed at a 2-year or 4-year accredited college or university are referred to as "Collegiate Chapters." We also aim to pilot our first "Professional Chapter" where first generation college student alumni who are in their career stages or have recently graduated can organize and form a professional peer network in their communities. As we continue to establish and expand clubs and chapters in high schools, colleges, and communities, first generation college students and alumni are encouraged to join membership directly through their club or chapter online. |
